Botswana Former President, Masire to be buried today

Late Ketumile Masire, the 92-year-old former President of Botswana who died on June 22, will be buried on Thursday, June 29, at his Kanye village home. President Ian Khama, his deputy Mokgweetsi Masisi and several top government officials paid their respect to Masire on Tuesday at the Botswana parliament. Masire died in the evening last Thursday at the Bokamoso Private Hospital in Gaborone after undergoing a surgery. The former Botswana leader is considered the main architect of what has been one of Africa’s most successful economic transitions.He was Botswana’s first vice-president after independence in 1966 before replacing President Seretse Khama in 1980.

Kudzai Juliet Mudema, a former nurse in Gweru who got married to her husband Progress Walusi at Muzimukhulu Gardens in December 2016, was only two months into marriage before she cheated on him. During their honeymoon, it was reported that Kudzai was caught by her husband when she was having sex with her ex- boyfriend only identified as Lawrence.

APC gives chairman 7 days quit notice in Ondo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State on Tuesday gave its suspended Chairman, Mr Issac Kekemeke, seven days to resign over alleged misconduct. The ultimatum followed the recommendation of by the three-member fact-finding committee headed by Mr Abayomi Adesanya, constituted by the party to investigate crisis in the party in the state. EFCC can’t freeze Fayose’s account- Appeal Court rules

The Appeal Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, dismissed an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an injunction restraining the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, from operating his accounts in Zenith Bank Plc, describing the application as lacking in merit. The Appeal Court said: “EFCC did not come with clean hands on the application for injunction it filed because it suppressed material facts, for example that a similar application the EFCC filed was earlier refused by Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti”.

1 dies, as van slams into crowd of worshipers in London

At least one person has  died and 10 others were injured when a van drove into a group of worshippers outside a London mosque early Monday in what police are investigating as a potential terrorist incident. London’s Metropolitan Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Eight others were taken to three area hospitals and two were treated at the scene.

Shark attacks pensioner at Ibiza beach in Spain

A shark has attacked a swimmer off the coast of one of the most popular beaches in Ibiza, Spain. The victim was treated for a two-inch gash to his hand after being bitten at Playa d’en Bossa – home to famous clubs like Ushaia and a Brit tourist favourite yesterday afternoon. Other swimmers fled the water following the attack, although the beach was not closed to swimmers. At least 62 killed in forest fire still raging in Portugal

A huge forest fire raging since Saturday in central Portugal has killed at least 62 people, the government said on Sunday, in what is possibly the deadliest-ever forest blaze in the Atlantic coastal country, used to the woods burning almost every summer. APC suspends six members over misconduct in Enugu

The executive committee of the Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has suspended six members of the party over alleged misconduct. APC chairman in Enugu state, Dr. Ben Nwoye, informed journalists on Sunday that five of the suspended members were investigated, and indicted, for making false allegations against the state executive committee of the party in a petition they forwarded to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
