Boko Haram claims Maiduguri attack in new video

Boko Haram, in a new video, has claimed responsibility for the attack on Maiduguri on Wednesday night that killed at least 15 people. It was the first major assault on the city in 18 months. “We have killed those we can and have left with the bounties of war we are displaying now,” said a voice on a video released by Boko Haram on Saturday, showing the group’s fighters among piles of ammunition and other supplies.

Army arrests 126 Boko Haram terrorists in IDPs camp in Borno

The Nigeria Army on Wednesday said it had arrested about 126 suspected Boko Haram terrorists at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Damboa, Borno. Maj.-Gen. Lucky Irabor, who made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen in Maiduguri, said the suspects were flushed out during mop up operations. Irabor said that the mop up was conducted after the Boko Haram terrorists stormed Sabon Gari area in Damboa Local Government area of the state. “During the attack, we lost about six soldiers and equipment, some of our soldiers were also wounded.

A 14 year old female suspected suicide bomber says Boko Haram leaders chose her to detonate an Improvised Explosive Device in Maiduguri because she refused to marry their members in Sambisa Forest. The suspect is among three suspects arrested by the military when they  came for a suicide mission at a military facility in  Jakana in Maiduguri. The suspect  told the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri on Sunday that she was sent on the mission to detonate the device because she refused marriage proposals from three Boko Haram terrorists. The suspect said she was abducted with her father,  Usman, by Boko Haram insurgents in Gwoza, Borno, in 2013.

ABUJA, The 82 freed Chibok schoolgirls arrived in Nigeria's capital on Sunday to meet President Muhammadu Buhari as anxious families awaited an official list of names and looked forward to reuniting three years after the mass abduction. The newly released girls arrived at the Abuja airport and were met by the Buhari's chief of staff, presidential adviser Femi Adesina said. The president was expected to meet with the schoolgirls at 4:00 p.m. local time. The 82 girls were freed Saturday in exchange for an unspecified number of detained suspected Boko Haram extremists, Buhari's office said in a statement.
