FBI arrests Nigerian Adekunle Ojo for identity theft in North Carolina

A Nigerian, Daniel Adekunle Ojo, who had spent less than  14 months in the United States,  has been arrested  by the FBI in Durham, North Carolina and charged with fraud and identity theft offences The offences stemmed from Ojo’s phishing scheme, using an AOL and GMail email accounts  that targeted school districts in Connecticut and Minnesota in an effort to get employees’ personal information and file bogus tax returns.

Police Command in Enugu State and sister security agencies are collaborating to rescue Prof. Nduka Eya and his driver, who were kidnapped by gunmen on Thursday. The Command’s spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu, said this in a statement on Friday in Enugu. Residents of Essau, in the Lower Nuimi District, were awoken by sounds of heavy gunfire last night, when armed robbers broke into a local pharmacy in the village; gunned point the local watchman; beating him into a state of coma after fleeing with an unspecified amount of cash and other valuables, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The robbers terrorized the village for hours before police could arrive at the scene of the robbery. The watchman sustained injury on his head, hand, and other parts of his body.

Ghana targets 5m yearly passengers with AfDB-funded airport

The construction of a new terminal at Ghana’s flagship airport – Kotoka International Airport – is expected to make the country a destination of choice with a yearly target of 5 million passengers, a statement has said. A statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by Mr Emeka Anuforo, African Development Bank(AfDB)’s  Communication Officer, on Friday in Abuja said AfDB would fund the project with a 120 million dollar  facility.

Cleric exhumes friend's corpse for ritual in Kwara

The police in Kwara are on the trail of an Ilorin based-Islamic cleric who allegedly exhumed the corpse of  his late friend  for ritual purpose. The cleric, a resident of Eleran compound in Oloje area of Ilorin and said to be in his 30s, allegedly  exhumed the remains of  his childhood friend on Tuesday,  seven days after his death. A source, who confided in the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said that the community became aware of the development when the odour of the decomposing  body permeated the area.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC today secured the conviction of one Muhammad Nasir of Ministry of Housing and Transport, Gombe State before Justice Abubakar Jauro of the Gombe State High Court. He was convicted on one count charge of impersonation for using the name of one Abdullahi Ibrahim to obtain a One Hundred and Twenty One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Ninety Nine Naira (N121, 999.00) loan without the knowledge of the said Abdullahi, and diverting the proceeds to his use.
