PDP candidate, Obaze cautions APGA's Obiano on alleged propangada

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Oseloka Obaze, has expressed disappointment over what he called Governor Willie Obiano’s propaganda.
Speaking yesterday to the Oraezue Non-natives, a group of non-indigenes resident in Nkpor, Idemmili North Local Government Area, Obaze said there were no projects on ground to justify the amount of money the current administration claimed it had spent on development projects.
He urged the government to be accountable, warning that spending of state resources on media hype and propaganda would not prevent his imminent loss.

“Obiano’s re-election bid has continued to suffer immense deficits, despite the enormous resources expended on media and publicity because his government performed poorly. The only thing capable of securing the incumbent another mandate in a state like Anambra is visible dividends of democracy, not hype,” said Obaze.

The PDP candidate promised that if elected, his government would prioritise development at the grassroots and conduct transparent council polls within the first six months of the administration.
“This is in addition to granting local government administrations full autonomy, because we believe that governance is best felt at the grassroots. As the governor, I will sponsor an executive bill to the State House of Assembly to enact a law that will mandate hospitals to respond to emergency situations first and ask questions later,” he said.

The aspirant added that he would set up a charity organisation that would ensure hospitals did not incur loss in the process. He also frowned at the practice where hospitals required initial deposits and police documents before responding to emergencies.
Speaking at the occasion, the immediate past governor, Mr. Peter Obi, noted that Obiano’s scorecard was too poor to fetch him another tenure, arguing that a governor who performed dismally in his first term, could only fare worse in a second.
“When we tell people that his (Obiano’s) poor performance in office is not enough to get him re-elected, they boast that they have the means to get all the votes needed. Please, remember that the future of our children and children’s children is at stake. Our children deserve to be trained in well-equipped schools. They deserve a better future. And that is what this election is about,” Obi said.
